Established in 2003, Houston Mod is a non-profit 501(C)(3), membership organization dedicated to promoting knowledge and appreciation of modern architecture in Houston and Texas.

Houston Mod advocates the preservation of this cultural legacy and seeks support from its members and the general public in achieving this goal.

The organization has published several catalogs and books about modern architecture and architects from the Houston region.

The online Modern Houston Index archives the works of important modern structures both demolished and extant.

Houston Mod created the award winning Mod of the Month program to spotlight modern homes and buildings in need of new preservation minded owners. The group helped establish Houston Modern Market Week, the largest cultural celebration of “modern” in Texas. The Houston Mod Preservation Awards honor exceptional works of modern preservation.

Houston Mod is a friend organization of Docomomo US, a national non-profit organization dedicated to the documentation and conservation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the modern movement for nearly 25 years as a chapter of Docomomo International.
