Prior to his appointment at the UH, Ognjen worked at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from 2005 to 2008. Ognjen holds a Diploma from University of Belgrade (2000), and a PhD from UC Berkeley (2005).
Ognjen and his wife Olivia moved to Houston from Los Angeles in late 2008, and quickly got interested in Houston`s modern heritage. Through the help of realtor Robert Searcy, they purchased--and are currently trying to restore--a 1958 Lucian Hood house in southwestern Houston.
